The Amy Strelzer Manasevit Research Program For The Study Of Post-Transplant Complications


Be The Match FoundationSM and the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) are pleased to announce that applications for the Amy Strelzer Manasevit Research Program are available. This research program is directed toward scientists and clinicians early in their careers and is intended to advance the understanding of events occurring after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The program is dedicated to the memory of Amy Strelzer Manasevit and is made possible through the generosity and commitment of her family and friends.

 Requirements and Conditions
  • The research proposal must address issues arising after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation.
  • Proposals must describe pre-clinical investigations that are laboratory-based human or animal studies designed to test the mechanisms, safety, and efficacy of an intervention prior to or in conjunction with its application in humans.
  • One award will be made for a maximum of $240,000 in research support divided over three years. Payments will be made in segments; upon receipt of grant, at six month reporting milestones and upon receipt of final report.
  • Applicants must have received a doctoral degree (M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent) within the past twelve years (after January 1, 1998). Applicants must hold a position in an approved U.S. facility. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents or foreign citizens holding a valid U.S. visa.
  • The Awards Committee will select one scholar for the funding period July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2013. Awardees will be announced during the 2010 BMT Tandem Meetings (ASBMT and CIBMTR) in Orlando, Florida, February 24-28, 2010.
